The amazing little earth movers.

​It's good to see the Wall Street Journal publish a story like this.

Although the focus is mainly on how tillage disrupts and kills earthworms, cover crops play a vital role as well- especially by providing a longer period of "food" for the earthworms to eat.

Tillage is like a tornado destroying a house. It can be rebuilt but when this happens every year, the earthworms don't have a chance to proliferate due to their "homes" being constantly destroyed.

I have seen 36 earthworms in one square yard feeding on old crop residues in my fields. As they say, "If you build it, they will come"!
